1. About this policy
This notice describes information handling for SafetySift at safetysift.com. You can read the journal without creating an account. References to “we” and “our” mean the publication. For privacy questions or requests, use content@safetysift.com.
The notice covers this website and messages sent to its editorial inbox. Other websites and your email provider have their own privacy practices.
2. Information you choose to share
If you contact us, your email may include your name, reply address, message, attachments and the ordinary delivery information supplied by email services. We use the details you send to understand and respond to the enquiry.
The contact form is a local preview of a submission confirmation. Completing it displays a success message, but does not transmit your name, email address or message to us. The form is cleared after confirmation, and the website does not save its contents in a database or browser storage. To contact the editors, use the email address shown on the page. Your browser or email application may separately save information under its own settings.
Include only what is needed. Do not send passwords, verification codes, identity documents, payment details or private information about another person.
3. Page requests and search
Delivering a page involves processing technical information such as an IP address, the requested address, browser information and request time. Hosting and security services may use request records to deliver content, diagnose faults and detect abuse. The information available depends on the hosting service and browser settings.
The blog search filters the article list in your browser. It does not send search terms to a search or analytics service. A search can appear in the page address and browser history; loading or sharing that address can include the search terms. Avoid putting personal information into site search.
Article photographs, fonts and interface files are served with the website. Opening a source link or another external link takes you to a separate website.
4. How information is used
- Respond to questions, corrections, rights requests and editorial enquiries.
- Keep the website available, investigate faults and protect it from misuse.
- Assess a suggested correction or topic without publishing private correspondence as a personal story.
- Meet applicable legal obligations and handle genuine disputes.
Where a legal basis is required, ordinary correspondence and site security are handled for our legitimate interests in running the publication, subject to your rights. Legal obligations may provide another basis. Consent is used where required for optional tracking; sending a message is not consent to advertising or marketing.
6. Google AdSense and advertising choices
Google AdSense is not active on the current website. The information below explains the choices that would be relevant if Google advertising is introduced; it does not mean that advertising cookies are being placed now.
On websites using Google advertising, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to select ads based on earlier visits to that website or other websites. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to personalize those ads. Advertising services can also process technical information for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention.
Google offers controls through Google Ad Settings. Information about participating advertising companies and their choices is available from YourAdChoices. Turning off ad personalization does not necessarily remove all ads or stop processing needed to deliver them. Read how Google uses information from partner sites for details.
Before enabling advertising, we will update the provider information and provide the consent or opt-out controls required for the relevant visitors. Where Google requires a certified consent platform for personalized ads, that platform must be in place before those ads are served. Merely visiting this page does not give consent.
8. Retention and security
Correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry, maintain a necessary correction record, address a dispute or meet a legal obligation. Retention depends on the purpose, sensitivity and any continuing need for the record; this notice does not promise automatic deletion on a fixed date. Provider-held technical records are governed by the relevant service settings and obligations.
Access to correspondence should be limited to handling the matter it concerns. No website or email system can guarantee absolute security. Please use a short description rather than sending sensitive documents when asking us to investigate a problem.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may be able to request access to personal information, correct it, ask for deletion, restrict or object to processing, or receive a portable copy. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Where European or UK data-protection law applies, you may also complain to the relevant supervisory authority. Where a US state privacy law applies, additional rights may include opting out of certain sales, sharing or targeted advertising, and receiving equal treatment when exercising a right. These rights have conditions and exceptions; not every law applies to every website or request.
Email content@safetysift.com with the request and enough context to locate the correspondence. We may need proportionate verification before disclosing or changing personal information. Please do not send identity documents unless a suitable verification method has first been agreed. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
10. Children’s privacy
The journal is written for adults and caregivers managing family devices; it is not a service directed at children under 13.
We do not ask children to send personal information. If you believe a child has supplied information that we should not hold, contact content@safetysift.com so we can investigate and arrange appropriate deletion.
11. Changes and contact
We may revise this notice when site features, providers or information practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be explained here, and additional notice or consent will be provided where required. Continuing to browse is not a substitute for consent that the law requires.
For questions about this notice, contact SafetySift at content@safetysift.com or visit the Contact page.
